KATA APPLICATION FOR KIDS KARATE CLASS

Our kids karate class teach kata, kumite, and basics. Part of kata (form) is to understand the movement in a selfdefense situation. All the katas start with a block. Already kata teach to don’t throw the first attack but just to defend if necessary. All the students in our karate kids program in order to get in a new belt, must show skills in kumite (sparring), basics and form. Its easier to learn something when you understand it. The kata we study this week during the karate kid lesson is heian nidan. This kata is for the orange belt. The karate kids students must show the application of a couple of sequence from heian Nidan. During the karate kid training this week, all the karate kid and teen students must understand and memorize the form.
